Most Americans think President Donald Trump and his family have made money from cryptocurrency in ways they consider improper since his return to office, and that his personal business stakes are steering how he governs, a Reuters/Ipsos poll published Wednesday showed.Half of Republicans surveyed said Trump lets his commercial interests weigh on his decisions in the White House, a notable break from a party whose leader ran on draining corruption out of Washington, even while that same bloc waves off his crypto profits as fair game. The gap hands Democrats an opening as both parties fight for control of Congress in the November midterms.
Public Objects to Crypto Profits and Sees Business Steering Trump
Roughly 63% of those polled said it was wrong for the Trumps to draw income from crypto, against 32% who found it acceptable and 5% who gave no answer, from a sample of 1,166 adults reached online between August 14 and 17. Republicans flipped that result almost exactly, with 69% comfortable with the earnings and 27% opposed, while Democrats rejected the profits 92% to 6% and independents lined up against them 66% to 25%.

Same Poll Finds Little Faith the Iran War Ends Soon
The same survey found Americans just as pessimistic about a separate front. Some 80% of adults said they expect the US war in Iran to go on for a long time, against just 16% who think it ends within weeks, indicating little confidence that the conflict is close to resolution. Democrats held the strongest conviction on this point, with 87% saying the war is likely to drag on, compared with 71% of Republicans and 80% of independents.
